"Martin Springett's music is a unique blend of beauty, complexity and story. His guitar playing deftly evokes lush orchestrations and exotic faraway places both real and fantastic. His voice comes straight from the emotional core of a song. A prolific writer, Martin is constantly finding new and inventive ways of combining sounds and styles."

About Awakening
This piece is the third part of a suite of tunes inspired by Guy Kay's wonderful novel Ysabel. "Awakening" refers to Ned Marriner's realization of the part he plays in the ancient tale of love that bursts forth into the modern world as well as his discovery of his own powers and of a wider and more complicated world—the invigorating joy of youthful discovery. "Awakening" is the last part of the suite echoing the end of the tale itself, but leaving Ned and the reader aware of a story that never ends. Cello: Allysa Wright Acoustic Bass: Rahlen Sullaphen Guitars: Martin Springett Produced by Martin and Rahlen

This picture was taken at the Sydney Library on Vancouver Island BC in May 2007, as I fly through one my favorite pieces that I play for young audiences. I have been playing "The Dragon" in my school and library presentations for some years now, and after many requests from students I am now making it available as a free download. I never play it the quite same way twice, so this recording is just a taste of what it sounds like. I have to thank my good pal Rahlen Sullaphen for his great bass playing and percussion on these tracks.
