2005 FSA Results (Elem. TEMPLATE)

Each spring students in Grades 4 and 7 British Columbia take part in the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA). This involves testing students in three important areas known as foundation skills. These skill areas are reading comprehension, writing and Numeracy.

The main purpose of this assessment is to help the province, school districts, and schools evaluate existing programs and make plans for improvement.

Another purpose of the assessment is to give teachers, students, and families an additional source of information about a student’s performance in the foundation skills.

Individual student FSA results were sent home to parents and guardians in mid September. These student results provide a snapshot of where the student is in relation to provincial standards, and they can help students, teachers, and families discuss student progress and set goals. These results are just part of the picture, however, and should be placed in context with the work done by students in the classroom. FSA results do not count towards a student’s report card results. Those families wishing to discuss the results should contact the school office to make an appointment.
